Reruns of the series began airing on Cartoon Network's late night programming block, Adult Swim, on January 1, 2011 with the network airing the nine remaining episodes of the series from January 8 to March 26, 2011. Thirteen episodes were made, but only four were broadcast in the United States before the series was canceled due to a combination of low ratings and pressure from religious activists. The show, however, was well received in places such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Latin America, where BBC Two, RTE, and Fox, respectively, aired the entire series. God, the Devil and Bob was canceled in the United States after the first four episodes aired on NBC, after network executives received an alarming number of complaints about its potentially offensive religious material.

Toonsylvania is an animated television series, which ran for 2 seasons in 1998 on FOX's Saturday morning cartoon block in its first season, then was moved to Tuesday afternoons from September 14, 1998 until December 21, 1998, when it was cancelled. Reruns aired until 2000. It was produced in part by Steven Spielberg, following in the footsteps of his previous animated series, Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs. Much like Animaniacs, the show had recurring cartoon series that appeared in each episode. Unlike Animaniacs, Toonsylvania didn't have a wide range of characters and almost every episode had the same cartoon segments.

It was created by writing partners Al Jean and Mike Reiss, who had previously worked as writers and showrunners on The Simpsons. The Critic had 23 episodes produced, first broadcast on ABC in 1994, and finishing its original run on Fox in 1995. Episodes featured movie parodies with notable examples including a musical version of Apocalypse Now, Howard Stern's End, Honey, I Ate the Kids, The Cockroach King, Abe Lincoln: Pet Detective, Scent of a Jackass and Scent of a Wolfman. They also spoofed Dudley Moore, usually as his character Arthur Bach from the 1981 film Arthur. Despite the ratings improving, The Critic was cancelled after only two seasons. It continued to air through reruns on Comedy Central and then on Locomotion. From 2000 to 2001, ten web episodes were later produced using Adobe Shockwave, and were broadcast on AtomFilms.com and Shockwave.com. In 2004, the DVD box set was released, which includes all 23 TV episodes and the web episodes.

USA Network aired the series as part of their USA Cartoon Express programming block. The first 13 episodes can currently be seen on Hulu. In spite of this, Universal, as of November 19, 2009 has yet to announce any plans for a DVD release. 5 tapes were released in 1995 containing episodes from seasons 1 and 2.
