Nimmi
Based on the ill-fated love story of Laila and Majnu, this version shows them as inseparable childhood sweethearts, and subsequently as each others lovers. They want to get married, but as their fathers' (Emir E Basra, and Emir E Yemen respectively) are sworn enemies of each other, they are not permitted to see other, leave alone get married. Separated from each other, they long and pine for each other.
Balraj (Dharmendra), affectionately called Raj, by his elder brother (Nana Palsikar) and sister Vija (Madhumati), is a student in college in the arts semester. As the family is not very rich, Raj decides to move from the hostel to the residence of a family. He finds one such family in Gandhinagar, which consists of Choudhury Hukumat Rai (Ashok Kumar), a lawyer by profession, his wife (Nimmi), and only daughter Shanti (Mala Sinha). Hukumat takes an instant liking to Raj, and tells him that his wife will only allow him to take up residence if he tells her that he is already married. Raj reluctantly does so, and thus acquires residence with the Rai family. Eventually Mrs. Rai takes a liking to Raj, so does Shanti. Shanti finds out Raj and her dad had lied to the family about Raj's marital status, she confronts Raj, and he readily admits that he lied.
While studying in Aligarh Muslim University, Anwar Hussain Anwar falls in love with a veiled woman and is unable to get her out of his mind. En route to Lucknow, they meet with Nawab Buland Akhtar Changezi, and subsequently meet with him a few days later so that he can use his influence to secure an editor's job for Anwar with a magazine. Nawab then asks Anwar to teach his sister, Husna, some poetry, to which he agrees, and eventually finds that she is the very same veiled woman. Both fall in love with each other and the Nawab approves of this alliance, even though Anwar lives a poor lifestyle. The formal engagement ceremony takes place and arrangements are made for the wedding to take place soon. The heavily indebted Nawab does not realize that soon he will find Anwar in the company of a lowly courtesan, Najma; and pressure will be brought on him to get Husna to marry wealthy Munne Raja - who is all set to auction the former's mansion as well as belongings.

The only son of the Royal Astrologer, Narsin (Om Prakash) namely Gopal (Bharat Bhushan) is not interested in astrology but in music and songs, much to the dismay of Narsin.

A delicately nuanced psychological drama, exploring a 3-way relationship between the main characters and the crisis of conscience that rocks it. A prosperous, well-respected lawyer, in love with and engaged to an educated, socially-conscious young woman, rapes a poor local village milkmaid. The rest of the story deals with the aftermath of this tragic event, with all the inevitable undercurrents of guilt, penitence and pervasive heartbreak that stem from it.
Sunil Kohli and Sonia are attracted to each other, and both get married. They go to spend their honeymoon, and on the way there spend a night at Sunil's boss' bunglow, which is occupied by his son, Dhiraj Kapoor. He is interrupted with Sunil's return, a fight ensues, and Dhiraj is killed. The police arrest Sunil, and sentence him to prison for life. On the way to the prison, a fight breaks out amongst the prisoners, and the driver loses control of the van, a accident results, and all occupants are killed. Devastated at these turn of event, Sonia relocates and becomes a school-teacher, and lives as a widow. Kamini (Shyama) runs over a young man (Dev Anand), who is seriously injured. Kamini visits him daily even while he is unconscious. When he recovers, she is attracted to him, and sets him up with employment with her dad Seth Mothumal's (Gope) business as a manager. He dines at Mothumal's house by Kamini, where he comes across a mute maid-servant named Asha (Nimmi). Asha is attracted to him, and he also feels attracted towards her, little knowing that his past has come to re-visit him in her form, and not knowing the changes it will bring to his life.
