Amat (Adadiri Tanpalang), a ten-year-old boy is an intelligent and mature boy who helps his mute father with stone carving. One day, his teacher requests him to participate in a stone carving competition. He never finishes it; instead his father does it for him. He wins but he returns the prize to the school because he felt that he doesn’t deserve it. He claims that his father is the one who finished the statue for competition for him. While his friend, Siti (Acintyaswati Widianing) is the one who sent the stone carving to the competition.

Slamet, a reporter, begins a relationship with Wulandari, a dancer and painter. But Wulan’s mother does not approve of their relationship. Donna is interested in Slamet, causing Slamet to become indecisive. Wulan happens to see Donna and Slamet together, and starts to trail him. Then Donna feels cheated when she sees Slamet’s clothes at Wulan’s house. Later, a misfortune happens to Slamet when he is hit by a motorcycle and is hospitalised. Then Slamet returns to Wulan with Donna’s encouragement. The film is also a commentary about the changing social values in Yogyakarta: such as the intimate acts between Wulan and Slamet in Wulan’s room; the boarding house that has more relaxed rules than usual; and the busy street of Malioboro.
