Suji is the only daughter of billionaire Vishwanathan who plays unsuspecting pranks on everyone and one such prank she does by conducting an interview for choosing personal secretary for her father in which she chooses Ram as the secretary. Vishwanathan's friend Moorthy, manager and Swarna wants to takeover the whole property of Vishwanathan so Moorthy set up a person Raja to get married to Suji. However Suji gets married to Ram. Vishwanathan suddenly dies of heart attack and Suji who goes to Ooty gets killed by Ram and Moorthy. Suji becomes a ghost and decides to take revenge. Suji witnesses Mayamma, a look-alike who works a fake exorcist and asks her to act as herself. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

The film began with the abandonment of a baby girl in a baby hatch and that baby was brought up in a government orphanage. Now, Raani is a gifted woman and she is the proud of the orphanage. She then goes to a renowned college. There, Raani meets the village boy Pitchai and she changes him into a perfect city dweller, they slowly become best friends. After the studies, Pitchai and Raani fall in love with each other. Raani becomes a Sub-inspector of police while Pitchai becomes a district collector. Soon, they have to face the smuggler Rajarathnam and his son Murali. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Vanaja and Girija lives with their mother, their father Shankar escaped when they were young because of Ramanathan. Vanaja and Girija decide to take revenge on Ramanathan by charming their sons.

One day he accidentally meet his childhood friend Raghu who is a spoiled rich guy. He offers Raja an acting job, then takes him to his uncle's house. Raja is to be in charge of the administration of the household and take care of five children each of whom have issues. Raja finds out that Raghu is cheating his uncle out of funds and using him to do the same. How he tackles these problems and helps the children become better is the rest of the movie.

Kalyanam (Kamal Haasan) is the naive and infantile son of a rich estate owner Chinnadurai ( V S Raghavan) and he is in love with Shenbagam (Sridevi), an ordinary estate worker. The estate manager (Major Sundarrajan) and his cohorts covertly plot to kill Chinnadurai and usurp the property from Kalyanam. Chinnadurai gets killed but before his death reveals to Kalyanam that he has a twin elder brother who lives with his mother in Madras. The manager and his henchmen befool Kalyanam and loot the estate with ease but eventually murder him by throwing him off a cliff when he discovers their true designs. Shenbagam who witnesses the murder turns mentally unstable. However Kalyanam is not finished entirely as his spectre contacts his twin brother Raman (the elder Kamal Haasan) and the rest of the story revolves around how they together seek to bring the perpetrators to justice.
