This is a live-action version of the popular Japanese animated series Dragon Ball.
The story begins when Tiarn Tiarn is about to be born. Her father was fighting the demon who has stolen lots of children. Her mother is killed and her father has taken up the fight. Years later, trying, now an adolescent, Tiarn Tiarn and her grandfather battle the demon and try to free her still, demon-possessed father.
Misfortune sets in for the protagonist of this story when her husband dies of poisoning. She leaves Tokyo to join her father-in-law in Hong-kong where her immoral and lecherous brother-in-law harasses her. Then, her father-in-law is also murdered. Are the killings linked? And why is her brother-in-law also injured and handicapped?
In the Chinese martial arts/fantasy opus Monkey War: New Pilgrims to the West - a sequel to the original Monkey War - the brave Monkey King launches out on a quest to build a new life for himself. When watching the first half of this movie, I first thought that this movie was too long for it's own good, but soon found out that the director wanted to show the brutal calculating schemes of the killer. If you cans it through the first hour and a constant disturbing dark mood, then you'll understand the movie better as everything come stogether in a gory showdown.
