Rangan is a very ugly man and therefore lives a tough life. He is kicked out of jobs, ill-treated constantly, and the girl he loves hates him. With the Mask, Rangan generates followers, becomes a film star, and gets a wife who loves him solely for his handsome face. Nearing the end, Rangan takes off the Mask for a moment, and wishes people would respect him for who he is on the inside. His wife walks in, sees his ugly face, and throws him out, mistaking him for a robber. Rangan's former followers throw him to the side. Deciding that only beauty can bring him respect, Rangan puts the mask back on and lives the life of actor.

The rest of the story is Shanmuga Pandian proves his father's innocence and revenge the villains with the help of Divya and Nandhini.
A group of sumgglers being hunted by the ghost of an unborn baby girl , whom they kiilled along with her father and beaten her mother to get aborted and mentally ill. The ghost possesses another girl and hunts the killers of her family. After realising the ghost possession, the killers are urged to kill the little girl. Azhagappan (Mammootty) a successful hotelier and father of four small children has lost his wife (whose face is not shown in the photo) in an accident. College student Swapna (Madhoo) play pranks on him and also falls in love with him but Azhagappan refuses her love considering the age difference between him. Though illiterate Azhagappan studies in a tutorial centre where his teacher Kanmani (Geetha) is smitten by him but Azhagappan is not interested in her. Classical dancer Priya Ranjan (Bhanupriya) and Azhagappan though fall in love. After egos and differences crop up between them, Driver Santhanam blurts out the truth that the four children are the orphans adopted by him. In the end, Swapna understands the situation and would love to call him as "Daddy". With the help of Kanmani and Swapna, four children devises a plan and plays a mediator between Azhagan and Priya by making them speak on the phone. In the end, both reveal their love through the phone and get united in the end.

Viswanath (Rajnikanth), a famous lawyer, stays with his widowed mother (Vijayakumari) and physically handicapped sister (Uma).
