Underneath this nice sleazy-looking box art that has absolutely nothing to do with the films, comes this cool & bizarre little Horror/Thriller anthology thingy called Final Destinations, featuring 4 different macabre tales with “the road” being a general theme, as they all have some driving or vehicles involved in the stories. Playing out like the Twilight Zone or a “Tales From... “ with plenty of black humor in the mix, they're all actually pretty interesting and quite well-made considering the small budgets I imagine the filmmakers were working with.

Defenders of the Earth is an American animated television series produced in 1986, featuring characters from three comic strips distributed by King Features Syndicate—Flash Gordon, The Phantom, and Mandrake the Magician—opposing Ming the Merciless in the year 2015. Supporting characters include their children Rick Gordon, Jedda Walker, Kshin, Mandrake's assistant Lothar, and Lothar's son L.J. The show lasted for 65 episodes; there was also a short-lived comic book series published by Star Comics, created by Gerry Conway, Ross Andru and John Romita, Sr.. The closing credits credit Rob Walsh and Tony Pastor for the main title music, and Stan Lee for the lyrics. The series was later shown in reruns on the Sci Fi Channel as part of Sci Fi Cartoon Quest.

True to its title, "The Story Begins" introduces the audience to the Defenders Of The Earth's colorfully animated cast of characters. It is Flash Gordon, whose spaceship crashes near Mandrake and Lothar's mansion, who tells us of evil Ming's plan to destroy the earth. In addition to being panicked over Ming's plans for the destruction of earth, he is anguished over the well-being of his wife and son Rick whom he was forced to leave behind.
