In the ancient time before Land of Siam was born, there was the time when armies of invaders came to colonize the land and were mercilessly massacring population. One priest secretly gathered drawings of many animals from all over the world. He bonded the drawings in to a book with great supernatural powers. Then he gave the book to two headman of one Thai tribe to use these drawings to tattoo on his people and fight the invaders. When the land is rid of vandals and peace returns, the sacred book must be divided into many segments and passed on to the most trusted disciples to guard and preserve it. All segments of the sacred book must never fall in to hands of those who seek absolute power.

Ping, a young nobleman, has retired from the service of the crown in order to become a musician. He becomes a student of Master Duang, a famous musician. Master Duang owns a mysterious drum called Perng Mang, which has the power to bring success or death to people. Meanwhile, an arrogant musician called Muan tries to convince all the students to leave Master Duang. Some students follow his advice and end up dying horrible deaths which defy explanation. When Master Duang is defeated by Muan, he calls for Ping to inherit his musical knowledge and gives him the Perng Mang. Ping is told about the secret of Perng Mang and that it was made from a woman's skin. The woman's name was Thip, the same name of the woman he has fallen in love with.

A young monk catches a train to a temple in a hill. On the way, he meets Phol and Taengmo, two people who trying to escape from their personal problems. Later, the threesome becomes friend, but they have to separate to find their goals. The young monk arrives the temple and experiences to many unusual senior monks, while Phol and Taengmo meet each other again in a village and begin their relationship. But, peaceful life of Phol and Taengmo is getting in trouble when a stranger guy steps in, and sets a chaos over the village and the temple.

The film begins with the funeral of Somying Daorai, who killed himself when his lover, Boontherm, went straight. This lover shows up at the funeral with his ex-lesbian wife. Somying's brother's is brought in to plot revenge, but falls for Boontherm. At the same time, Orn, the ex-lesbian, tracks down her ex-girlfriend. Among all of this is a aristocrat who buys the Tiffany Club, where Somying once sang.

A dangerous man and some teammates try to escape during a prison transfer. Only the man can escape but is seriously injured. He finally ends up in a strange house where only a few women are living. Despite his bad past, the women do believe in his redemption and will fight among each other for him.

It deals about their difficulty to find true love and the way society reacts to them. At that time, society was generally quite conservative and katoeys were viewed as abnormality. The public outcry the film raised helped push it under the national spotlight. The film's theme song became a hit. A remake was done by the same director in year 2006.
