Rashid

Arappatta Kettiya Gramathil is a 1986 Malayalam film directed by P. Padmarajan, based on his own short story of the same name. The film revolves around three men, Zechariah (Mammootty), Hilal (Ashokan), and Gopi (Nedumudi Venu), who go to a brothel in a remote village and the problems they had to face there in the next 24 hours. It also stars Kanakalatha, Sukumari, Unnimary and Jagathy Sreekumar in other pivotal roles.

A post-master named Dilip Kumar re-locates to work in Mutharamkunnu. Once there, he sets about to meet the local residents and finds out that they are obsessed with wrestling. He meets with a proud and retired wrestler, Kuttan Pillai, and subsequently gets smitten by his daughter, Amminikutty. When he finds out that she an ardent fan of Mammooty, he lets it known that he is the latter's close friend. He intercepts her fan-mail, and even corresponds with her.

Elizabeth (Sukumari) has just retired as a college sports coach. Heeding to the suggestions from her students, she starts a beauty parlour with her retirement money. Her son Emil (Rahman) and brother Vakkachan (Nedumudi Venu) assist her in this venture. However things don't start out well early, till the arrival of a skilled beautician Mini (Rohini). Business starts booming, but Emil soon starts getting curious about the mysteries surrounding Mini.

Vinod (Master Raghu) and Anitha (Devi) are classmates in school and have their own private problems. Vinod's stepmother wants to seduce him, and Anitha is an illegitimate child that her mother never wanted. On a rainy day they take shelter in a train wagon, which starts moving before they could get out and stops next in a forest area a long way away from home. There, they find a couple of recluses - a widow and an ex-army officer - living their own lives and willing to accept them. As they were in early puberty they live like normal children. But as puberty stage starts, both experiences lust over each other. The widow accepts them as foster children and perform their marriage, but fate intervenes as an incurable disease for Anitha.

Oridathoru Phayalvaan is a 1981 Malayalam film written, edited and directed by P. Padmarajan. The film is a folk parable about the success and failure in the life of a wrestler. Having an unusual and different plot, the movie was critically acclaimed. It stars Rashid, Nedumudi Venu and Jayanthi in the lead roles. It won the award for Best Script at the Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival, and a Gold Medal at the Asian Film Festival.
