Rajini is working as a coolie in a factory. He is asked by three brothers to act as a foreign-returned rich man the heir of a property. Rajini acts but always escapes as he doesn't want to face consequences. But then he comes to know that he is the heir to the property, his father was killed by three brothers to take away the property and mother became a mental patient. He avenges the death of his father by killing the villains. At last, he says he doesn't want to be an heir to money and always remains as a coolie.
A young man in desperate need of money takes up a job as a guardian for a wealthy family and has to disguise himself as an old teacher as per the job requirement.
Jagadish is a poor man who gets by any way possible in life. At a job interview place he get a tip that the manager is a big cricket fan. So , Jagadish pretends to be one , but it backfires when the appointed manager does not come in and his father who hates cricket does the interview and he does not get the job. A woman pretends to be Jagadish's wife for her interview, to get sympathy for having a cricket crazed husband and gets the job. Jagadish finds out and demands 1/3 the payment every week from her for getting the job , by saying he was her husband. The rest of the story forms how they fight over the job/payment and the hilarious situations that happens when their lives intersect.
Captain Prabhakaran (Vijaykanth) is an IPS officer sent to Sathyamangalam to nab terrorist Veerabhadran (Mansoor Alikhan) who tortures the people of that place. Prabhakaran not only going to nab Veerabhadran but also to avenge the death of his friend Rajaraman (Sarathkumar) who was a forest officer killed by Veerabhadran. Police commissioner, collector are corrupt and supporters of Veerabhadran. In the climax, Veerabhadran kidnaps Prabhakaran's wife and son. Prabhakaran comes in correct time saves his wife, son and nabs Veerabhadran. Ramya krishnan loved Sarathkumar and she dies by giving birth to a child. Veerabhadran is shot dead by corrupt inspector and collector. Prabhakaran kills both of them and he is dragged to court for killing police inspector and collector. Prabhakaran tells the truth that they were corrupt and the film ends with Prabhakaran being released from the court. This film was dubbed in Telugu as Captain Prabakar with packed houses.

Shyama is an orphaned young woman who lives with her aunt, uncle and several cousins, two of who are girls of marriageable age. Her passion is dancing, which is frowned upon by her uncle and aunt. One day she, along with a young man named Gopal, go to see the dance by an international artiste named Veena. They ask Veena and her mentor, Dinanath, for help but are shunned and asked to leave. Crestfallen, she returns home and sleeps outside the door as it was very late. The next day her aunt finds out about her overnight excursion and beats her up severely, followed by another beating by her uncle. Humiliated, she decides to run away with Gopal to another town in order to learn dancing at the hands of well-known Guru Kishinchand Sharma. They do find Kishin, who initially rejects them, but relents when he witnesses Shyama abilities.
