Berna and Belgin are two 40-year-old women who oppose the rules imposed by society and men. These women, who live different lives from different environments but have to struggle with similar problems, are in search of freedom and identity.

One day waves bring a wooden statue of Lenin to a small town by the Black Sea. The statue is erected in the town square by the Municipality with the hope that it would attract tourists to the town. As an official opening ceremony is planned with the participation of the Prime Minister and a Russian delegation, the statue gets stolen. Two police investigators from Ankara are assigned to find Lenin in twelve hours. Townspeople give an unexpected answer to the question «Where is Lenin?».

It is 1416, 13 years after Timur's victory over the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Ankara. Çelebi Mehmed emerged victorious from the struggle for the Ottoman throne. Although the dispute for the throne is now over, the rural population is overwhelmed by a high tax burden, making them increasingly poor.

After waiting for many years, the family tries to get rid of the uncertainty by believing that the wounded man they found at the door is Selim (Ahmet Varli), their son.

It becomes impossible for them to live amongst people now, and the forest they take shelter in becomes a desert island for them. A boy and a girl that were thrown out of the civilized world would live the entire human story from scratch.

Dogan, a pessimistic and neurotic architect, falls ill while camping with his friends nearby Istanbul. His doctor advises traveling. Longing for his homeland, Dogan sets off on a short break to the town of his childhood, whence he did not have the opportunity to visit since years. But not even the countryside has escaped the homogenizing concrete web cast by the modern technological age and liberal mentality inimical to the Earth.
