Muthuvelu's song is telecast by the TV channel, Muthuvelu becomes popular in no time thus he becomes a singer.Muthuvelu goes in search of his father. He finds that his father Ratnasabapathy is now married and has three sons. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Kalimuthu is the lead singer of a group performing Villu Paatu. The village head decides to reconstruct the tumbledown village temple and gives Kalimuthu responsibility for funding money. Finally, the music director Ilaiyaraaja helps them financially. Then, Kalimuthu approaches a reputed sculptor from another village. The sculptor and his daughter Abhirami come to their village. Later, Kalimuthu and Abhirami fall in love with each other. Abhirami's father wants to marry Abhirami to his nephew Rajasekharan while the village head's son Chelladurai , a womanizer, has an eye for Abhirami. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

The portrayal of the characters is similar in many ways to Malayalam cinema's investigative thrillers. The suspense is well maintained until the climax with little clue to the audience on the identity of the real culprit. The arguments in court were mostly inspired from 12 Angry Men (1957).

The story revolves around the Indian folk dancers life. The story is completely Entertaining which also brings in the flavors of the villages in tamilnadu. The hero of the movie Ramarajan is a folk dancer. He comes to perform a dance in a village festival. There he was challenged by the local folk dancer(The heroine of the film) of the village for dance competition. At this stage love develops between these two dancers. The local village president has an eye for the heroine and acts as barrier to their love. How these two dancers succeed in their love is hold in a entertaining manner with some nice comedies and interesting twists in the screen play. One of the main highlight of the film is the comedy track of Goundamani and Senthil. This film has famous banana comedy which is still one of the best comedy in kollywood. Its nice family entertaining movie. The songs are very good. Music by Illayaraja who is one of the famous greatest musician in India.
