Mahima lives a middle-class lifestyle with her parents, Pooja and music teacher,Gautam. She is in love with a young man, Anuraag, whose foster father, Pratap, is very friendly with Gautam. Both Gautam and Pratap arrange to get the youngsters married, however, when they arrive at Pratap's house, they are met with open hostility by Pratap's wife, Shanti, her sons, Sukhpal, Shripal, and their respective wives Shobha and Suman, and do not approve of her as she did not bring in any dowry. Nevertheless, Mahima, a devotee of Devi Maa Santoshi, decides to win them over with her love and hard work. Then Anuraag is accused of stealing one Lakh rupees from the family's electronic showroom, he vehemently denies this, and even offers to leave for Bombay, earn the money and then return.

Bantu and Chantu are unemployed, and are not able to get any jobs due to lack of experience. They come across an advertisement for a hotel management program in Goa, and make their way there. Once there, they hoodwink the trainer by posing as the nephew of the owner of the hotel, and thus enroll themselves in the training course. In the course of the program, they expose several employees and guests as cheats, earning their wrath but also the admiration of the two daughters of the hotel owners. Things turn sore for the two when the guests and former employees get together to avenge their humiliation.

Police Inspector Ram Yadav is a honest, handsome, and incorruptible young man. He lives with his sister-in-law, Shakuntala, and elder brother, Raj . A lovely yet petty thief, Pooja admires Ram so much that she moves in to his house in the guise of a maid-servant, and eventually claims that she is to bear his child. Ram, unable to handle this, agrees to marry her. His duties and investigation lead him to suspect the renowed and influential Appa Rao. Appa Rao is engraged at Ram, and watches and waits for an opportunity to strike back at him. Janardan (Mohnish Behl), Appa Rao's spoiled and way-ward son, initially attempts to pick up a college-girl, when she refuses and humiliates him publicly, he retaliates by setting her on fire in broad daylight, in front of several college students. No one is bold enough to stop Janardan, nor even attempt to save the girl. When Ram finds out, he immediately arrests Janardan and holds him in custody.

Several big-wigs in Bombay city are invited, and they include Mohini, the alcoholic and aging wife of Divakar; Ravi an actor; Bharat an aspiring actor and poet; An aging Ruth who is always accompanied by a much younger boyfriend; Poet and producer, Agashe; Ila Arun the singer; and Achyut Potdar a Bollywood actor. Everyone awaits the arrival of Amrit, an activist. What the invitees do not know that the party is going to be gate-crashed by the host's, Mrs. Damyanti Rane's son and his teen-aged friend; a couple, Naren and Malvika; Then something unexpected happens: Amrit does arrive - but not in the way everybody expected him to arrive.
