An eccentric multimillionaire signs an agreement to have his life ended. While selecting his coffin he meets a young woman who has signed up for the same arrangement. Trouble ensues when the couple falls in love and wishes to get out of the contract.
Simone inherits a dilapidated farmhouse in France and makes her way there with her husband Eric and their two children. Her dream is to turn the house into a bed and breakfast but as the hectic pace of the rebuilding gets underway, she gets caught up in the romance and chaos of it all. Losing sight of her goals, she must find her way back to the dreams and ambitions which brought her there in the first place.
After his wife Marjan has died in a car crash, Philip de Wit becomes a total wreck. Only after months does he return to a more or less normal life and even then he only works in his wife's bookstore. A year later Eileen walks in the store, a girl from Northern Ireland with her baby in her arms. When Philip sees her, he's dumbfounded, for she's the spitting image of his dead wife. Runichem is busy preparing for the approaching centenary. While half the village is present at a meeting in the community center, an art theft takes place in a villa. But the people in the community center don't know anything yet. when Wilbur tries to call home from the community center that night, the phone interferes and he hears a fragment of a conversation related to criminal activities. The two friends Wilbur and Aristides decide to investigate this mysterious case, with the help of Akkie, daughter of inspector Swaan who is in charge of the investigation of the painting theft, and grandfather Quarles. This film is based on the second season of the Dutch serie 'Q & Q': for this film, the 13 episodes, with a running time of more than six hours, have been reduced to less than an hour and a half.
