Shivan (Suresh Gopi) arrives in a remote village as an agricultural officer. Pappachi (Jagathy) arranges the upstairs of a house for him to stay in. A family of three girls (Khusboo, Vani Viswanath, Kaveri) lives downstairs along with their father (M.R. Gopakumar). The three of them develop romantic feelings towards Shivan.

It tells the story of a college student Lal played by Mohanlal, who takes on 3 Masters degree in college and continues as a student in the college as he was an orphan. He lives in a home nearby college made from the money of his unknown father. From time of his memory he lives in an orphanage, now he is in college and he do not want to leave the college. The story revolves around the college and various events happening in the college.

Aparna, a teacher, learns that her student Abhimanyu is the son of the man she once loved. Having grown rather fond of him, she's shocked when another man arrives and claims that Abhimanyu is his son.
