Meera is in a college and pregnant nearing labour. Here Meera tells her story of how she got to this point in a flashback. A young man named Jeeva falls in love with her. She despises him and eventually gets him kicked out of college. After a fight with Jeeva near her house Meera goes out for a walk and she sees a woman getting killed by a police man. She is terrified and runs to the police station to report the crime; the officer at the station is, shockingly, the murderer. The police officer, now knowing the sole witness to his crime, sends goons to her house to kill her.

His cousin Mahalakshmi (Kushboo) falls in love with him. Ranganathan (Vijayakumar), Murali's father, works with the smuggler Daaha (K. Rajpreeth) for 25 years. When Murali knew about his father's profession, he convinces his father to quit his job. Finally, Ranganathan decides to leave this odd job but Daaha kills him. Murali decides to take revenge and becomes also a smuggler.

Purushottaman, a manager in a firm, acts bold and tough outside but in reality is a chicken and a henpecked man totally under control of his dictatorial wife, Deivanayaki, and is stifled by her tyrannical nature. Surprised at seeing his subordinate Sivaraman's wife, completely under his control, he shares his woeful tale with Sivaraman, and Sivaraman agrees to help him out. But, Deivanayaki comes to know of this and in turn poison's Sivaraman's wife Lakshmi, against him. Life turns topsy turvy for Sivaraman. Will he be able to lead a peaceful life with his wife again?

Parvathi (Manorama) is an extremely domineering second wife to Sivaswamy (Vennira Aadai Moorthy) and controls all his money treating him with scorn and disdain. When Sivaswamy's son Ramu (Muthuraman), son of his first wife, requires a sum of Rs. 3000 for his Sister's husband, she refuses instantly. With plenty of worry, Ramu and his cousin Shekar hatch a plot with Appaswamy (Thengai Sreenivasan) who pretends to be a fake swamiji in order to get to her money safe and steal a sum of Rs. 50,000. Meanwhile Rama (Lakshmi) is an orphan whose only friend is the doctor of a mental institution. When Rama wants a conduct certificate, the doctor bungles and hands over the certificate of a mad girl. Rama arrives at Parvathi's house to work as a secretary and Parvathi sees the certificate and decides to keep Rama at her house to humour her fearing her insanity. The film leads to plenty of humorous situations.
The movie deals with four friends. In the Southern part of India, there are two communities living - separated by caste and hatred of each other. The lower caste community has a young woman named Priyanka, who would like to reform and build relationship with both the communities. However, when the leader of the upper caste community proposes that she marry his younger brother, Priyanka refuses, for she loves Raju, an educated village orphan, As a result, the division between the two communities grows, so much so that Priyanka's dad is killed, and she herself is assaulted. Then the communities are hit by heavy torrential rain and floods, which lead to the collapse of the upper caste community, and the question remains: will the lower caste, who have always been oppressed by the upper caste people, forgo their differences and assist them, or will they stand by and watch them being swept away.
