Mappillai Gounder is a 1997 Indian Tamil language film written and directed by Manivasagam. The film features Prabhu and Sukanya in the lead roles, while Swathi plays a supporting role. The film, which has music composed by Deva, released in February 1997.

Ranganayak, a rich women, has three sons : Gopi, Madhu and Balu. Ranganayaki wants absolutely a grandson and she will pass on her whole inheritance to her son who has a male child. Poomani is a 1996 Indian Tamil film, directed by Kalanjiyam and produced by G. V. Anandan. The film stars Murali, Devayani, Prakash Raj and Reshma in lead roles. The film had musical score by Ilayaraja.

Chellappa, a villager, returns to his village after finishing his education, and falls in love with his neighbour Sundari. Her father, the panchayat president, threatens to shoot her if the affair becomes public knowledge. David gets released from prison after long 22 years and he reaches the church to confess. He says to the priest that, he would kill 3 people. The priest informs this to the police. David starts his revenge by killing the DSP and escapes fooling Inspector Shankar. The flashback shows that, David and Rosy were married and had a happy life, but Rosy is raped by the powerful trio of Politician, Doctor and DSP. Rosy commits suicide. The trio easily wins the case by falsely implicating David and he gets sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his wife. He leaves his only son Shankar to his close friend Velappan.
