The Dutch football team has just released the heroic World Cup final lost to archrival West Germany. The whole country is in mourning and Jaap Kooijman throws out of sheer frustration the brand new TV out the window. This event is the prelude to an equally comical , exciting and touching family film.

Nursing home Zonnedael has been shut down by director Bomhoff: the psychiatric in-patients Bep Brul, the Major, Fats, Ms. De Haas and Dr. Doolittle are reintroduced into society against their wishes. Nurse Ten Hoeven, who always cared for her patients with love and care, is grieving: her main purpose in life has gone. To make matters worse, she is kidnapped. Of course the patients take action immediately. Under the Major’s guidance they embark on a risky and lunatic venture, to finally discover the incredible truth behind the kidnapping.

Eight-year-old Blanco unsuccessfully tries to reconcile his arguing family members by trying out all the possible ‘secret power trics’ he taught himself. The biggest trick however is that he finally decides to stop looking after other people.
