Following the ascension to power of Taira no Kiyomori, the Minamoto clan is exiled. Minamoto no Yoritomo meets Masako, the sister of Hojo Yoshitoki and later marries her. Following this marriage, the gears of Yoshitoki's destiny begin to turn.

Reiko Kenmochi (Haruka Ayase) works as a successful lawyer at a big law firm. She is ambitious and she is also honest about her desire to make a lot of money. One day, due to a bonus cut issue, Reiko Kenmochi becomes upset and takes a leave from her job. During her break, she spends time sending emails to people she knows, including her ex-boyfriend Eiji Morikawa. She then receives an email from a mysterious person, Shinoda. That email states that her ex-boyfriend Eiji Morikawa died. She is also surprised to learn that his will states that his entire fortune will be handed over to the person who killed him. Reiko Kenmochi devises a plan to split her ex-boyfriend's fortune with Shinoda, turning Shinoda into Eiji Morikawa’s killer.

Young women disappear one after another in drizzling rain. They all hear the “cursed song” of the Cage Song before they vanish into thin air. With the help from the librarian of Yokai Library, they find out that the curse was caused by an evil Yokai that was released from 1,000 years of sealing. To save Kaede, they are to gather the 5 ancient musical instruments and perform the ritual to seal the evil Yokai again, which has to be done within 48 hours!

After the Rain: Wish in a Pocket, the live-action spin off web mini-series based on the live-action film of Jun Mayuzuki's Koi wa Ameagari no You ni (After the Rain) manga, on Wednesday. The new mini-series focuses on the relationship between the characters Takashi Yoshizawa and Yui Nishida, who are supporting characters in the original story. The series maintains the same cast as the film. Hiroki Kazama is directing the series.
