One day, 300 year-old Namahage is caught in a trap. While being transferred he manages to escape. Wandering through the suburbs of Tokyo, Namahage meets 11-year-old Mamoru and he moves in at the boy's house without Mamoru's mother's knowledge. Mamoru struggles to hide Namahage from his mother. Meanwhile, bad pet shop traders seek out to capture Namahage.

In order to be with the man she loves, Kim goes back to Japan from Korea. The man saved Kim from darkness, when she was little. But he was raised by Kim's mother under the dark world. Now, he is involved in the criminal world. To protect her love, Kim makes a dangerous plan to get the man from her mother.

However, Miyuki and the teenagers Kazochi, Takumi, Hattori and Rieko have been submitted to a nightmarish experiment by Dr. Hattori and her team with tragic results.

A detective investigates a series of murders. A possible serial killer might be on a rampage, since they all are in the same vicinity and by the same method, but as the evidence points toward the detective as the prime suspect, a ghost in red follows him, and he begins to question his identity. His realization of what seems to have really happened results in something much more sinister and larger in scope, and it leaves his psyche scarred.

Shinnosuke (Kiyohiko Shibukawa) and Misawa (Keishi Nagatsuka) are joint managers of a Bonsai shop. Suddenly Shinnosuke's childhood friend Haruko (Mami Nakamura) turns up. She has split up with her boyfriend and finds herself out on the streets. Shinnosuke starts to like Haruko and really wants to cheer her up, but he can't manage to express his real feelings or stop picking up other women. Misawa is dumbfounded by Shinnosuke's behavior but also has complex feelings of love for his friend. Haruko realizes that Shinnosuke is falling in love with her but she pretends not to notice in order to keep the peace between the friends. Then one day Shinnosuke suddenly blurts out his feelings for Haruko, but she has just hooked up with another man. Haruko moves out of the shop and in with the man, but then his wife returns and Haruko finds herself out on the streets again. Shinnosuke has to start cheering her up all over again.

They soon discover similarities for they are both trying to escape the past to start new lives....
