Kamiwatari Kotone is a geisha in Kyoto. While she is sleeping after a night of drinking, her fellow geisha is killed. Kotone Kamiwatari is falsely accused of her murder and is sent to prison. There, she is bullied by other prisoners, but Kotone relies on her training from senior geishas to persevere. She also learns why she was framed for murder and sent to prison.

It is a mystery whether his research on wormhole theory caused his death or not. His fiance Asahi is a capable career woman working at a large IT company. She is beautiful and smart, but she met Reiji and fell in love with him. Her days with Reiji were happy, but one day he dies and somebody tries to kill her. Asahi doesn't know why someone wants to end her life. Lloyd, who looks exactly like her dead fiance Reiji, suddenly appears in front of her. Lloyd came from the year 2113. His mission is to protect Asahi from any risky situations. Without Asahi's knowledge, Lloyd fights to protect her. Lloyd doesn't know what "love" is and doesn't understand human anger or sadness. At first, Asahi doesn't like Lloyd, but slowly her feelings change. Lloyd also begins to develop feelings for her.
A wedding is supposed to be the happiest moment in a couple's life. But what if someone among the attendants does not wish success for the newlywed couple? One morning, Takako, a wedding planner, finds a threatening letter sent to the wedding hall that says, "Cancel today's weddings. Otherwise, you will receive divine punishment." There are five weddings scheduled that day, but Takako ignores the letter and decides to duly host the weddings and find out who is behind the threat.

They work on cases by postulating the "SPEC" of the unknown criminals and then deduce the criminal's unknown "SPEC" to make arrests. A mystery occurs when bodies are found on a cruiser in the ocean. Saya Toma and Ryo Kase of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department are brought in to solve the case.
Like the original series, "SPEC" will revolve around a pair of police detectives as part of a special division solving difficult cases (Mishou). Touma Saya is a woman with an IQ of 201 and an inability to "read the atmosphere" in social situations. Due to a previous case, her left arm is in a sling. Her partner Sebumi Takeru used to be the star performer of the Metropolitan Police. After some incident however, he was transferred to Mishou. Those two track down offenders with special abilities(SPEC) who managed to get away with their crimes.
After the events of the series, Shibata has lost her memories and is reassigned. Meanwhile, a strange case regarding a cursed tree that kills whoever's name is written on its trunk surfaces among mysterious deaths. Following different leads, Shibata and the Unsolved Cases unit will meet again as they investigate. Asakura, it seems, is also plotting behind the scenes...
