Mika (Fiorella Mattheis) is a stripper trying to rebuild her life after a troubled and mysterious past. She goes to work in the bustling Rua Augusta, in São Paulo, where she is a dancer at Boate Love and has fun at night club Hell. On one of these nights, the young woman's fate intersects with that of a powerful businessman's son, which changes her life forever.
Sexologist and therapist Sofia Prado, director of an institute of alternative therapies, has to deal with her own emotional disorders, which she hides from everyone. From the revelation of one of her patients, the specialist becomes involved in a dangerous network of corruption.
The film is based on lyrics from the very famous Brazilian samba composer Adoniran Barbosa, following the aesthetics of his time. Notable facts and characters of his songs takes us through the story, a portrait of São Paulo city in the 50's, a place full of music, love stories and gentrification (poor people getting evicted from their places in order to build great buildings), subjects often explored in Adoniran's work, always with a good touch of humor. This way he became the 'poor people poet'.
