28-year-old Taeko Kase works at an event company. One day, she makes a mistake at work and is reprimanded by her boss Hiroki Itokawa. Making things worse, Taeko Kase is dumped by her boyfriend. Later, Taeko Kase follows the recommendation of cafe clerk Haruto Takagi’s and joins a dating app. With Haruto Takagi’s advice, she decides to meet Makoto Hasegawa from the app.

The story features two people who experience their first love late in life. Maruya Kosuke is a 29-year-old employee in the sales department of his family's brewery. Thanks to his good looks he was always popular, receiving many love confessions from women since his youth. As a child Takuma is diagnosed with a heart condition that requires care from a cardiologist. He soon becomes friends with his doctors young daughter Mayu while being treated at the hospital. One day Mayu overhears her father saying that Takumas condition is serious enough that he most likely wont live beyond the age of 20. Takuma isn't aware of this himself, however, so at 8-years-old he makes a promise to marry Mayu when they turn 20. Later in life, Takuma becomes aware that he wont be able to keep this promise and he begins distancing himself from Mayu in hopes of protecting her.

Shingo Okazaki is a young man devoted to his mother to a degree that's rare in Japan. He's a young fellow who treats his mother with respect, but his tendency to overdo it makes his filial devotion look more like a little fault to those around him. Then, a young woman falls in love with him. She finds it very admirable that he takes such good care of his mother, but is also a bit confused by this fellow who seems to care more for his mother than for his girlfriend.

As Aoki stands at the bus stop, a woman leaves a gift bag by his side. The woman, Satomi, had just attended the wedding of her first love. Aoki chases after her, thinking she forgot her luggage.

Yasu's mother passed away when he was very young and his father abandoned him. Yasu's wife, Misako, also lost both her parents when she was young. The two spend their days in happiness, watching their young son, Akira, grow up. Unfortunately, a freakish accident occurs that results in Misako sacrificing her life to protect her son.
