A woman gets ready to leave for a get together and finds her husband dead in their room. In no time, she is also tried to kill by a black masked face man. His attempt gets failed and he escapes. The woman is now in state of shock and mentally paralysed. A murder case is registered and investigation take place. Susi (Kanchana) a young college girl comes to her home for vacation along with her friends. She lives with younger paternal uncles Kamalanathan and Vimalanathan who are the younger brothers of the victim and her aunt who was supposed to be the victim in the hands of the murderer. Susi meets Baskar (Ravichandran), a singer and both of them are attracted to each other at first sight.
Babu is a naive young man who likes to go out of his way to help people. He has fallen in love with Kammo, but in the process of helping another, he lands himself in jail for two years. After his discharge, he finds that a lady who had once helped him is now a destitute widow with a small child, Pinky.
Baratha Vilas is a 1973 Tamil film starring Sivaji Ganesan. Gopal Sivaji Ganesan and Gowri KR Vijaya are salespeople in competing organisations. They are professional rivals and end up sharing rooms in the same house belonging to an English. Naidu M. R. Radha and his Telegu wife Manorama are caretakers of the house where Mohan and Gowri stay. Gopal and Gowri get married and both quit their jobs on the same day. Nair and his wife lend them some money to start a business.
A lawyer leads a happy life until his wife delivers twins and one of them has a scarred face just like him. Dejected, he deserts the child and lies to his wife that their baby was stillborn.
G. Dhananjayan in his book Pride of Tamil cinema - 1931 to 2013 wrote: "Though the film has several usual commercial twists and action scenes, underlying theme of love between a boy and adopted mother [..] impressed the audience".[
