A Declaration of Love
The main character is a talented, but timid writer of the Filippok experiencing with his country the difficult years of revolution, devastation and war. Adversity helps him overcome the unrequited and faithful love for the widow of Commissioner Zinochka, who bossily manages his career, not hesitating to start novels with other men. Filippok will describe the story of his life in a book that at the end of days will be presented by a terminally ill, but still dearly beloved wife, with gratitude for the experience.

Averbakh's adaptation of a play by Alla Sokolova, Faratyev's Fantasies is the story of a man surrounded by four woman, Faratyev, he is madly in love with on, Aleksandra, compassionately take care of another, her aunt, and is indifferent to the other two, Aleksandra's mother, and her sister, Lyuba. The world of these characters are that of dreams, each one's dream in interconnected to that of other, and each respond differently to it. Faratyev is a man who dreams, he live in the world of fantasies. Aleksandra and her mother listen to him, but do not take him seriously, his aunt listen to him, believe him, but do not encourage him, only Lyuba understand him, but to him, she is a mere child, he is madly in love with her sister, Aleksandra, she is a realist, she does not love him, but for sake of her own prosperity and that of her mother and sister, she agree to marry him, only to run away with the mysterious Bedhudov...
Zina is sixteen. She is a manipulative schoolgirl living in a small Russian town among sincere and simple people. Zina is nice on the surface, but so unable to enjoy normal life, that she is desperately trying to hurt someone. She tries to seduce and compromise a handsome young man, but he is smart enough to see through her and escapes from her trap. Zina manipulates her classmates so she looks like a victim. Now Zina's teacher, Vera, a sweet and loving lady, takes care of her trying to save the troubled girl, but in return, Zina becomes extremely crafty to hurt the teacher.
An actress (Natalia Sayko) is faced with the job of dubbing her voice after the final version of her movie is wrapped. (All actors dub their lines for the master copy of a film.) But she is overcome by her own life-crisis that alters her plans -- just released from the hospital, she realizes that her illness is more than she can emotionally handle -- it will kill her eventually. Overwhelmed, she has to reconsider her simple task of dubbing from a completely new perspective. This film had an attendance of 2.3 million in the Soviet Union when it was released.
Professor Sretenski is a scientist and director of a research center in Russia. He is separated from his wife and lives alone. His daughter, who lives with the mother, comes to his home and stays with him for a period, leaving her daughter with him. He raises his granddaughter, feeling a great affection for her.
