Monk is a warm, tragicomic and self-assertive film about an unusual family and strong family ties. Monk is a thirteen-year old hypochondriac, his sister, Joni, a rebellious adolescent, his mother, Maria, a flamboyant Spaniard and his father, Fabian, an artist at odds with himself. When the family suddenly has to depart for Spain to say goodbye to Maria's brother, who is terminally ill, this strains the family relations.

Farouzi (12) is a dutch-arabian girl that works at a small fishers company. She is a dreamer who doesn't care about boys, especially those boys she works with.
